Warren Gatland will continue as Wales head coach for the 2025 Six Nations, but has been told that results need to improve, with the team currently on a 12-match losing streak.
This record, the worst in Wales' history, has left them without a win in 2024 and ranked 11th in the world, putting significant pressure on Gatland's position.
Following defeats to Fiji, Australia, and South Africa in the Autumn Nations Series, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) considered a coaching change after conducting a review.
Despite overseeing 12 losses in 18 matches since his return in December 2022, Gatland will remain in charge for now.
Nigel Walker has resigned from his role as executive director of rugby, stating, "It's right I'm judged on performances on the pitch."
The WRU will also form a high-performance advisory panel, which will include former senior players.
Tierney commented on Gatland, saying, "I've had a number of very honest conversations with Warren, and I will make no secret of the fact that his position was on the line during our review."
