Dalot spends his Christmas Eve to helping the homeless, offering his support

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot spent Christmas Eve giving back to the community by helping serve food to the homeless at a local shelter.

Dalot, along with his partner, arrived unannounced at Lifeshare, a charity supporting homeless people in the heart of Manchester. The pair surprised guests by donating clothes and food before rolling up their sleeves to serve hot meals to over 100 individuals.

The 25-year-old Portuguese international expressed his pride in calling Manchester home, stating: “I’ve lived in Manchester for over six years and I’m proud to call this city my home. Sadly, homelessness is increasing, and as a family, we want to raise awareness and provide direct help wherever possible.”

Dalot continued: “We’ve started collaborating with Lifeshare, an incredible charity that does so much to assist vulnerable people. The volunteers here are truly inspiring; they are real heroes, and it’s been a pleasure to learn about their dedication.”

He added: “I’m thankful I had the opportunity to spend time with them and contribute, even in a small way, to such important work.”

Jahan Hussain, a trustee at Lifeshare, praised Dalot’s visit, noting how crucial the support was for the charity. He said: “After a tough year, where Lifeshare even faced the threat of closure during our 40th anniversary, this kind of support is lifesaving. Not long ago, we weren’t sure if our Christmas Project would go ahead, so having a visit from someone as high-profile as Diogo is incredible.”

Hussain continued: “Diogo and his wife were fantastic, really getting involved. It lifted everyone’s spirits, and we’re grateful for the generosity of the people in Manchester, whose donations made this week possible.”
